Rhinoplasty St. Paul / Woodbury and Eagan
Nose surgery, also called rhinoplasty, can correct a variety of undesirable features such as an oversized nose, a bump on the bridge, wide nostrils, or a crooked nose. Functional rhinoplasty is used to restore a problem related to difficult nasal breathing.
For most rhinoplasty patients small incisions are made inside the nostrils, as well as a small communicating incision across the skin between them. This provides greater exposure to the under lying cartilage and bone, which can then be reshaped or repositioned to create the desired appearance.
Rhinoplasty is performed in our surgical facility, Midwest Surgery Center, located within the Midwest Eye & Ear Institute in Woodbury. The procedure typically takes 1-3 hours depending on what needs to be done. Ideally, the body and face should be fully grown before undergoing a rhinoplasty. As a general rule, for cosmetic rhinoplasty, boys should be at least 15 years old and girls should be at least 13 years old.
