While both BOTOX and injectible fillers are commonly used in conjunction with each other, injectible fillers address different issues, namely volume restoration, while BOTOX addresses muscle mobility. All of our fillers are combined with an anesthetic to minimize any discomfort to you.

There are a number of different injectible fillers currently available. Our highly trained Facial Plastic Surgeons will review with you what your desires are and determine with you, what would be the best choice for you. While the primary goal of fillers is to replace lost volume or enhance your existing appearance, each filler has different properties. It is not uncommon for our Facial Plastic Surgeons to use a variety of different fillers to achieve your desired results.

Juvederm and Restylane

Juvederm and Restylane are in the familyof Hylauronic Acids (HA's) , a component found in your skin. We find the HA's to be the most versatile and can be used in nearly any location. Each of these fillers have an excellent track record and provide great looking results for the most discriminating person. The HA's can last up to a year depending on how much is placed and where it is placed. In general those areas that have a lot of mobility, ie., lips, the filler tends to resorb faster than that in those areas where there is minimal movement , ie., nose. Similar to Radiesse, Sculptra and Artefil the results are immediate.

Radiesse

Radiesse is composed of Hydroxyapetite a natural material that is found in the bones of our bodies. Radiesse is best used for replacing areas that need a large volumes of material. In contrast to the HA's Radiesse is not recommended for placement in the lips or in the lower eyelid for some individuals. Similar to the HA's Radiesse can last up to a year or longer. Similar to Juvederm , Restylane, Sculptra and Artefil the results are immediate.

Artefill

Artefill is the only FDA approved injectible filler that offers the longest lasting correction. It is composed of Bovine collagen and polymethlymethacrylate a permanent material. Because of its longevity it is recommended that it be placed deep to the superficial layers of the skin. Midwest Facial Plastics is one of two practices in the state of Minnesota that utilizes Artefil. Like Juvederm , Restylane, Sculptra and Radiesse, the results are immediate.

Sculptra

Sculptra recently was FDA approved for cosmetic enhancement but had been approved and used for a condition termed HIV facial lipoatrophy for years. Unlike the other injectibles, Sculptra consists of a series of injections performed over several months to achieve the desired results. Similar to Radiesse, Sculptra is not recommended for injection into the lips. Unlike the other fillers Sculptra slowly restores volume taking several different injection sessions and months to see the results.
